The Hucknall International Byron Festival 2012

Friday 1st June – Sunday 10th June
 

Fri 1st, 6pm - Burgage Manor Gardens.
Visit the exquisite gardens of Burgage Manor, a former home of Lord Byron. Including guided tours and the sounds of the Dmitri Harpist. Advance booking essential. Minibus from Hucknall.

Fri 1st, 7pm – The Ghostly Tales of Annesley Hall.
This sensational supernatural evening hosted by Dick Starr will include fascinating history and ghost stories with a tour of the hall and grounds. Advance booking is essential.

Sat 2nd, 11am – 2pm – Hucknall Book Day.
This ever popular event at The John Godber Centre includes short talks by several local authors. With a book fair and refreshments.
Price: FREE

Sat 2nd, 2.30pm – 3.30pm – Storytelling Hour.
At Hucknall Leisure Centre. There will be several stories that will be suitable for visitors of all ages, followed by a short creative writing session for children.
Price: FREE

Tues 5th, 7pm – Byron walk around the church.
Meet at Hucknall Library. A Walk/tour focusing on Lord Byron, which includes many fascinating facts about St Mary Magdalene Church and Churchyard; led by Ralph Lloyd-Jones.
Price: FREE

Tues 5th, 10am – Byron Pilgrimage Walk.
From St Mary Magdalene Church. Walk along the trails to Newstead Abbey and back. You will learn fascinating facts about the local history and Lord Byron. Eight mile round journey.
Price: FREE

Thurs 7th, 7pm – Byron Dinner.
At The John Godber Centre. With Ralph Lloyd-Jones giving an after dinner speech on Byron and Sport.
Price: £13

Sat 9th, 10am – 3pm – Heritage Day.
Central Methodist Church. Exhibitions by several local societies. A talk by David McClay at 1.30pm on the Byron John Murray Archive. Also an exhibition on Byron and Sport at the Hucknall Library.

Sun 10th, 3.30pm – Poetry Competition.
St Mary’s Church, Hucknall. This Includes readings and presentations of poetry from the recent poetry competitions.
Price: FREE

Hucknall Library will be hosting an exhibition on Byron and Sport throughout the whole festival during normal opening hours.
