Are you an emerging writer, looking to hone your work for publication? Perhaps you’ve got a writing project you want to embark on and would like to set goals for its completion. If you’re looking for practical advice on the literature landscape, how to edit your work and prepare your writing for submission to agents and publishers, book a place on our Editing and Writer Development Day. The workshop day is suitable for new and emerging writers of all genres and disciplines, or for writers wanting a chance to think in more depth about their writing process.
You’ll take part in two workshops, giving you the chance to evaluate your writing goals, focus on your writing journey, learn how to network, and how to find your ‘writing/life’ balance.
You’ll be given the chance to think critically about your work, look deeper into the creative process of editing and practical skills to edit your work for publication.
You’ll also be given an information pack with advice for sending your work to agents, publishers and producers and a roundup of opportunities and events in the region.

CREATIVE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WITH CATHY GRINDROD
This practical workshop will provide time and space to think about your writing self. We will look at your journey so far, the importance you place on your writing in your life balance, and how time management, confidence and lack of knowledge or skills might be having an impact. Cathy will make suggestions on how these issues may be overcome, and help you set goals for your writing future, as well as suggesting ways to get involved in regional writing opportunities and activities.
EDITING AND FEEDBACK WORKSHOP WITH MAXINE LINNELL

The first draft is often a heady experience, diving into your story or poem and letting it run its course. But what do you do when that’s complete? It’s certainly not the end. This workshop will help you with some of the creative tools to improve your craft – giving and receiving feedback, how to approach editing your work, and getting a manuscript ready to send out or self-publish.

Please bring an early draft of about 1-2,000 words or three poems to work on.

*Please note spaces on the Creative Professional Development Day are very limited, so it’s advised that you book early to avoid disappointment!*

What is Creative Development Planning?
The literature landscape is constantly changing, with aspiring writers often required to manage all the elements of their practice and employment – not just the creative aspect. Creative Development Planning (CDP) places writers at the heart of their writing process and provides a structured approach to reflection and action around their professional development.
CDP provides the opportunity for an individual to examine the direction in which they would like to take their career and develop strategies or action plans in order to move closer to their goals. It is suitable for writers at any stage in their career.
