To End All Wars book launch

The graphic anthology of the First World War featuring 26 stories by 53 contributors from 13 nations will be launched at the Five LeavesBookshop, with short illustrated presentations from contributors Ian Douglas, Pippa Hennessy (both NWS members), Selina Lock and Brick (aka co-editor John Stuart Clark). Southwell Library Poetry Festival

Lots of events in and around Southwell celebrating all things poetic. The full programme is on the libraries website, but some highlights are: Elaine Feinstein in Conversation, on July 18; Nottingham Writers’ Studio member Sarah Jackson and Bert Flitcroft read on July 19; Helen Mort reads on July 20; and there's a performance of the Canterbury Tales, also on July 20.
Andrew "Mulletproof Poet" Graves comperes the first Southwell Festival Poetry Slam on July 19, 7-9.30pm, contact the Library to enter for £5 and the chance to win £50 book vouchers.

Jazz and Poetry, 16th July



Jazz and Poetry with Carrie Etter and Kathleen Bell

Where: The Guitar Bar

Four in the Bar provide their usual smooth jazz sounds, and Carrie Etter and Nottingham Writers' Studio member Kathy Bell provide the poetry. NWS member Mike Wilson will also read at 8.30pm, along with Roger Craik.

Secrets - NWS Journal


On Wednesday 9 July the Nottingham Writers' Studio will be launching their new journal - Secrets - at 7.30 in their event space. There will be a licensed bar, and readings from all the writers included in the collection.
